Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I was exposed to photography at a young age, when I first played around with my father's old Olympus. Since then, my love for light, conceptualism, and creativity has grown. At the University of Pennsylvania, I delved into a world of academia, and found characters like Ovid and Baudrillard intertwining with and enhancing my creative pursuits. I became obsessed with the idea of 'meta-photography', along with the tension and reflection between photographer and subject. As a performer, I find it impossible to be invisible even when I'm technically not the subject, and it always seems like I'm posing behind the lens.
After university, I decided to move to Asia to gain some experience traveling and working abroad. It was one of the best decisions I've made. Living in Taipei, I freelanced as a photographer and restaurant critic, worked in education and video production, studied Mandarin, and performed in a few theater pieces. I took advantage of my proximity to Southeast Asia and mainland China, and spent a lengthy period of time in both areas. Now back stateside, Philadelphia is my base from which to pursue more documentary and fine art projects both domestically and abroad.
